Back in the lab

Hannah Bower (11) works on her Honors Chemistry lab in Mr. Conner's class.

As the second week of school at Loyalsock Township High School is coming to an end, students are back to the learning environment, and also back to labs in science class.

Students in the Honors Chemistry class with Mr. Todd Conner are putting their newly learned skills to the test. Students were given eight different writing utensils that they would test to see what colors they were made from. Once they test all eight pens, they were given a paper with five randomly selected pens and were to distinguish which five of the eight pens were used.

Mr. Conner explains that this testing "was used during a murder case years ago in which they discovered the pen that was used to write a letter which was later used as evidence from the crime scene."
